Impossible lemon pie – something on the to make list.

Chocolate Pecan Brownie Cookies – I’ve made these twice now. They were a big hit at playgroup. In fact, I think I’ll go and have one right now.

Pretty butterflies from recycled cards.

This story made me laugh.

Cute chalk art for $1.

Another yummy looking meal to make.

This (calm) birth story.

I might do this some time.

I need to make some of these.

Enjoying the photos here.

Hooray for Friday! Have a great weekend.

These are a few of my favourite blogs

When a new post from these blogs pops up in my reader I get a little bit excited. Maybe you will too.

the Wise Robin – I went to school with Chantelle. We had many adventures together including shirking schoolies week on the Gold Coast in favour of a road trip to Melbourne with another friend. A much better idea! We stayed in a backpacker hostel in St Kilda and shared the room with a guy none of us knew. Fun times. I’ve just recently discovered her beautiful blog and she’s having a giveaway at the moment. Hmm, perhaps I shouldn’t have told you that.

twenty-two pleasant and meli-mello – I don’t know if they know each other but Sherrie and Melanie are my Canadian peeps. Sherrie makes soaps, amongst doing many other things, and I bought some once for another (blogless) Canadian friend. Both Sherrie and Melanie write about an eclectic mix of topics including family, food, craftiness and home stuff.

Barefoot Childhood – I felt an instant connection to Madeline when I read the birth story of her second child on Marvellous Kiddo. For starters her name is Madeline, she had a first baby in hospital and a second at home and she used the same fishy ‘birth’ pool that Ed was born in. (Not the actual same one, of course.) I’d also like to thank Madeline for being my most frequent photo liker on Instagram!

virtù – Sally has just had a baby and yet she still comments on my blog. I’ve linked to this before but you must try her Butter Bean Korma Curry. Delicious!

Floating World – I first found Suzy’s blog searching for expat blogs while we were living in Scotland. She was living in Japan at the time but moved back to Australia not long before we did and we’ve both had two kids around the same ages. Little Milla is less than a week older than Edward.

BabyMac – Beth lives in the Southern Highlands, or, the place I was very ready to leave when I was 18 (no offence Dad), so it’s interesting for me to read about the life of someone who chose to move there as an adult with two small kids. Also, she has a beautiful house. And she’s funny.

I could go on but seven is a good number.

Happy Monday!

The other week I kept coming across links to recipes for baked risotto so I fugured the universe was trying to tell me something. Risotto is a regular on our weekly menu, and Dave cooks a pretty good one, but the baked risotto sounded like something even I could do.

Pip at Meet Me At Mikes posted a whole heap of links here: Because We Are All Busy : 15 Rad Recipes For Baked Risotto

Rin from Little One I Know You Grow posted two recipes here: Lazy Risotto

I made the tomato recipe from Rin and it was very easy and pretty tasty. I used tinned tomatoes instead of tomato soup and I think next time I would cook the onion first. I also think we could do with a better size pot to go in the oven.

Dave and Lil brought fresh beetroot home from the Farmer’s Markets and I remembered seeing a beetroot baked risotto recipe on Pip’s list: this Easy Baked Beetroot and Goats Cheese Risotto from A Foodie Lives Here. We used feta instead of goats cheese and didn’t puree the beetroot so it wasn’t as pink as the picture but was still pretty tasty.

I think we’ll keep working on perfecting the baked risotto. Anyone have a favourite recipe?
