14 months already! We have quite a few new developments to report.
As you can see from the photo she has discovered the joys of climbing. The other day I found her standing, no dancing, on the (glass) coffee table. She spent the rest of that day getting up there anytime I wasn’t looking and making her cheeky I-know-this-is-naughty-but-it’s-fun noise. Luckily the thrill seems to have passed for now.
Also this week: her first molar finally made its appearance! And a couple of days later I found the second one poking through. Both are on the same side, bottom and top. Hopefully the ones on the other side will follow quickly and then maybe we’ll get a teething break for a bit?
The big news this week is that we finally tackled the night feeding issue. Lillian has always woken 1-3 times a night and the easiest and fastest way to get her back to sleep is to feed her. So I did. But recently the 1-3 times has been more like 3 times sometimes 4 and that meant I wasn’t ever getting more than three hours sleep at a time. Which is tiring and had to stop. So we started by cutting the first feed (usually about 11pm or 12) out for three nights and then went the whole way with no feeds at all before 6am. The first five nights were tough. We had crying screaming for up to an hour and a half at each wake-up. We offered her water, we held her, we sang but it seemed she just needed to exhaust herself before she could go back to sleep. On night 6 we turned a corner and she only woke up once at 3am. She was still awake for over an hour but only cried for the last 20mins or so. From there the next two nights have also had only one wake-up each and the time taken to go back to sleep, and the amount of crying, are getting shorter and shorter. Last night she slept from 7pm to 8am!! With only one quick wake-up just after 12 and a feed just before 6. I hope I haven’t just jinxed this.
Anyway, she’s awake from her nap now so that will have to do.
