41 weeks

Still pregnant! We had an ultrasound and CTG monitoring today and everything is looking perfect in there. So… plan from here is another CTG on Sunday and then some decision making will need to be done. If we get that far.

In the meantime…Happy Birthday to Richard for yesterday.

Food and photos

It’s been a lovely birthday so far. Coffee and cake with Xanthe at Eurobar, lunch with Lynda at III Bean, and tonight, dinner with Dave at a place as yet to be decided.

Xanthe did a family photo shoot for us a few weeks ago and gave me the results today. Great birthday present, thank you!

(And no, no baby yet. Acupuncture appointment made for Friday.)

Due

Due

The midwife came to visit again this morning and says that bub is in the perfect position for labour. For now I am considered just ‘due’ until next Tuesday when (if still pregnant) I’ll be post dates. At that point they’ll do an ultrasound and CTG and check everything is still ok. If so I can carry on another week before looking at an induction. Hopefully we won’t get to that point.

I must say I’m looking a bit cheerier (and bigger) in the photo above than I was at the same point with Lil. I’m feeling good. Ready but not too impatient and still enjoying my quiet days when Lil is at preschool.

Tomorrow is my birthday, but I don’t mind sharing it if the baby wants to come then. It’s a good date.

Patience

39 weeks today. I am trying to remain patient and enjoy this quiet time before the baby arrives. Especially on days like today when Lil is off at preschool and I have the whole quiet house to myself. I think though, that we are pretty ready now so anytime is fine, baby!

Today I spent the day sewing. I made the Cutest Ever Baby Knickers from Meet Me at Mikes out of an old pillow case. Then I made a dress for Lil out of the second pillow case. She chose to wear both together when she got home:

Tomorrow’s plan is a walk to the library for some leisurely browsing. Any book recommendations?

Maternity leave

baby washing

Today I’m 37 weeks and this is my first day off work. Lil is at preschool and I am enjoying a very peaceful house. Xanthe is coming to take some more belly photos and then we’re having a child-free lunch out. Such a novelty! Tomorrow’s plans include a haircut, perhaps a leg wax and of course, the never ending washing.  All the smallest things have been washed now so at least they are ready.

From 37 weeks we are good to go for the home birth should I go into labour. My midwife is away this week so I’m hoping nothing happens too soon, and I want some more time to cross things off the to do list anyway.

We tested out the birth pool (timed the set-up and filling and made sure our hot water will last) over the weekend. Dave got in and reported that it was very relaxing in all positions! It’s borrowed from a friend who had her baby in it a few weeks ago so it has a good success rate.

Here’s a cute video and this is what Lil and I were doing at 37 weeks. This baby is doing much of the same.
