For Dave’s birthday (back in February) Lil painted a series of three canvases. The inspiration came from this Childhood 101 post. Lil had fun arranging the tape. She made two with a star shape like in the picture above and one with rectangular shapes. We’re planning to put the finished canvases up in the playroom but they’re not up yet as the playroom is in a state of change. We’re waiting to see where furniture lands before decorating the walls.
Painting project number two was inspired by Design Mom and was a joint project between Lil and I. It started with a walk down the road to the art supplies shop for materials and then we came home and got into it.
Lil chose the colours and I did the first row or two of squares on each month and she did the rest. I was impressed with how neat she was! Later that night when it was dry I finished it off by writing in the numbers and using my Kikki-K alphabet stamps to name the months.
It hangs in the kitchen and we’re quite proud of it.

Thought of you and lil when I came across this site the other day http://www.playbasedlearning.com.au/2010/11/painting-in-salt/
I ordered the edicol powder dyes for my art unit and can send you a bit of each colour if you are interested. They also had a page on making your own paint also which looked interesting.
Thanks for the link Zoe, that looks fun. I saw something recently about dying salt with chalk too.
Great idea! Though, we have enough calendars around, at the moment. I have the kikki-k stamps, though. Not used yet, but you’ve inspired me.
I look forward to seeing the finished result
She’s ‘fully crafty’ just like her mum!!
