I thought it was about time for a comprehensive Lillian update.
Night Sleep: she’s doing pretty well at nights and mostly wakes up only once with an extra early morning wake-up sometimes. Last night she slept from about 7:15pm to 3:50am with no wake-ups which I think is a record. Unfortunately my bladder didn’t last the distance so I woke up at 3 anyway. Most of the time she goes back to sleep quickly after a feed so the wake-ups aren’t too bad.
Daytime naps: Quite suddenly about a week ago she decided to go from three naps to two. I thought this would be more of a gradual process but she hasn’t gone back to three since! This has its advantages and disadvantages. I only need to get her to nap twice a day which is good because she does not like napping and it is often a struggle. The bad is that the second nap falls around 1 or 2 pm which is when all the baby group things we do are on. We used to go out between second and third naps but now that’s nap time!
Food: She’s eating more and more and feeds herself everything. Melon was a big hit recently, as is toast. Banana is also a favourite.
Skills: She’s great at sitting on her own now and can usually catch herself if she starts to topple. She’s working on forward movement but often ends up rolling much to her frustration. The kitchen floor is a little easier than the carpet and she can pull herself along. I predict crawling within the next month.
Growing: I used to put her in the vibrating bouncy seat while I showered but have had to start using the car seat instead. She’s too big for the other seat now and nearly flipped it a couple of times. The bumbo seat has also had to be put out of service since she worked out how to get out of it easily and I caught her doing a headstand. She’s also too big for the swing (which she never really took to anyway) and can reach out and grab one of the legs to stop it swinging! So all these things are going to go for sale in preparation for our move.
And that will have to do for now as it seems nap number one is over. (Damn, I didn’t get to the ironing.)
Here’s a picture from her Australia passport photo shoot:

Elissa and Michelle visited this weekend and gave me the courage to give Lil’s hair a tidy up. (Couple more pics on flickr.)
It was a lovely weekend. I got to go out to dinner on Friday night while Dave stayed home with the sleeping babe. On Saturday we all went to lunch at the DCA and Lil had a great time munching on our side vegetables. This morning was a lazy morning and then we said goodbye as they headed to Glasgow.
Lil had a mega nap this afternoon (one hour and twenty minutes) and Dave and I got to talk about upcoming plans including a trip to Berlin in February and the fact that there is now only 11 weeks until we leave for Australia. Lots to do.
I’m being called to collect the girl from her bath so that’s all for now!
It’s a Happy New Year’s Eve over here:
Can you believe she’s 6 months old already?
